Oil stains on pavers are one of those problems that look simple on the surface but are actually pretty stubborn to deal with. They soak in fast, bond to the porous surface of the paver, and standard pressure washing alone usually won't cut it. You end up moving the stain around more than you remove it.

That's exactly what we were working with here. The driveway had dark, heavy oil staining across the pavers - the kind that builds up over time from vehicles sitting and dripping. Left untreated, that kind of contamination just gets worse. It also makes the whole driveway look neglected, even if everything else around the home is well-kept.

We used targeted treatment to break down the oil at the paver surface before cleaning. This step matters a lot. If you skip the pre-treatment and go straight to pressure washing, you're not solving the problem - you're just spreading it. The pavers on this driveway are wide and laid in a herringbone pattern, which means there's a lot of joint space for contaminants to hide. Getting those joints clean is just as important as the flat face of each paver.

The end result speaks for itself. The rich warm-brown color of the pavers came back fully, the staining is gone, and the driveway looks like it belongs in front of a well-cared-for home - because it does. Paver cleaning done right protects the material and keeps it looking sharp for years. Sealing after a clean like this is always worth considering too, since it creates a barrier that makes future stains far easier to remove.
